Walkways and connections
Connect entrances, patios and outdoor features. Existing elevations and water movement help determine the route and how the walkway meets surrounding surfaces.
Driveways
Vehicular use calls for suitable products, base preparation and compaction. Decorative pavers are not interchangeable across every application.

Discuss paver or natural-stone surfaces around the pool, coping and adjoining outdoor areas. Material selection and transitions depend on the existing pool and project conditions.

A base and drainage plan for your actual site
There is no single excavation depth or base specification that fits every paver project. Texas Pavers evaluates soil and site conditions, intended load, elevations, drainage, selected materials and manufacturer requirements.
Preparation and compaction
The condition of the existing surface and the intended use guide removal, excavation and base preparation. Proper compaction is a critical part of preparing the installation, especially where vehicles will load the surface.
Water movement and transitions
We consider slopes, surrounding elevations and where water moves before covering an area. An unresolved drainage condition needs evaluation; drainage-related work may require additional project scope.
Edges, bedding and joints
These details depend on the selected system and application. Joint material is specified for the project. Polymeric sand is available and commonly used where appropriate, without being mandatory for every installation.
Removal or reconstruction
Replacement may be more appropriate than working over a surface that moves, drains poorly or creates unsuitable transition heights. Existing concrete needs evaluation before an overlay approach can be considered.

Plan the work before pricing the project
- Share your plans and photos. Tell us the application, approximate area and what you want to replace or build.
- Review the site and materials. Discuss access, elevations, drainage, the existing surface and the selected system.
- Review a project-specific proposal. Depending on the agreed work, scope may include removal and haul-off, excavation, grading, base and compaction, bedding, installation and cuts, edges, joints, drainage preparation and cleanup. Sealing is included only when specifically quoted.
- Agree on the contract and deposit. When a permit is required, Texas Pavers can handle the process after an active contract and the required deposit. Permit fees are additional.
- Complete the agreed construction and final review. The proposal defines the work for your project.

Paver installation questions
How do you determine the base and excavation depth?
We review the site, intended load, elevations, drainage, material and manufacturer requirements. Base preparation and compaction are critical, but one depth is not appropriate for every patio, walkway, driveway or poolside application.
Can pavers go over existing concrete?
Sometimes an existing slab may suit the selected approach. First we evaluate its condition, movement, elevations, drainage and transition heights. In other situations removal and reconstruction may be more appropriate.
Do you replace patios or repair existing pavers?
Texas Pavers handles surface replacement and substantial corrective or reconstruction work. Isolated repairs of another contractor’s installation are evaluated case by case. Very small projects under roughly 100 square feet may be impractical because of scope and mobilization.
Do all installations use polymeric sand?
No. Joint material depends on the project and selected system. Polymeric sand is available and commonly used where appropriate, but it is not a universal requirement or an automatic inclusion.
What affects the cost of paver installation?
Size is one factor. Access, demolition and disposal, site preparation, base needs, materials, cuts, drainage work and the agreed finish details also affect the proposal. Calculator results are preliminary planning estimates, not guaranteed final contract prices.
Do you handle permits?
When a permit is required, Texas Pavers can handle the permit process after an active contract and the required deposit. Permit fees are additional.
